yesterday the kids and i went to the Royal Winter Fair. it's like a huge county fair without the rides. people come from all over the northeast of the US and Canada with their livestock for showing. it reminds me of the fair of my youth in Vermont- all that's lacking is maple sugar cotton candy. Above is a generic sheep picture, as I got there and realized the camera battery was dead. grrr
we
- saw cow milking, goat milking, and sheep shearing demos
- saw a 1291 pound pumpkin
- fed goats and llamas
- watched a horse show
- saw lots of huge cattle (it was hereford show day)
- sampled goat cheese and smoked trout
- ate ice cream
- saw 1 day old piglets and 2 day old chicks
- got 2 free bags of carrots
- played with cousin Xavier who joined us there
what fun!
right now, i am avoiding the messy kitchen to do this entry. i thought i'd have time for a number of things tonight (aforementioned kitchen, this entry, dinner prep for tomorrow, baking these granola bars i've been wanting to try, some Christmas gift research) BUT Maxine had an 20+ minute screaming session (it was horrible- i have no idea why- reminded me of when she had colic) a few minutes after she went to sleep, Lee had a tummyache, and finally everyone's asleep and it's 10:45. aaahhh well. there's always tomorrow. good night!
