i had a great trip to Vancouver. i missed the family of course, but i have to say it was a nice break.
the kids didn't seem to miss me much at all- which i am choosing to interpret as a sign of how secure they all are! At 6 and 9, i'm not too surprised the boys were fine, but i was a little worried about leaving Max for the first time. She was still breastfeeding when i left (maybe once a day) and I thought this would be the end of it. As she didn't mention it while I was gone, I asked her if maybe she wanted to stop now and she said, "well, I am a big girl, but i still like nicknie." very well then!
it was good for me I think- i have been pregnant or breastfeeding for 10+ years, and could count on one hand the nights away from kids in that period. i am pretty focused on the kids (i hope in a good way!) so to have some time to think about myself and be by myself, and be with friends without the filter of my kids, was nice!
i also loved my time with my friend Sam and her gorgeous sweet baby. here's a photo of me and little A. I miss her already. there's a sweetnes to newborns that i can appreciate even more when that newborn is not my own- no lost sleep or worry, only pure love.
we had a nice family field trip last week- to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair- i wrote blogged about it last year and the year before. (it makes me realize how long i've been writing in this space!)
so what's up now...
-pretty much the usual long to-do list (but i am trying to slow down- i swear!)
-i'm thinking about holiday gifts (along with my usual long to-do list) Of course i want to make some presents and help the kids make presents for each other. This year I really want to get going ahead of time (why not start the Christmas jammies now instead of 3 days before Christmas?) so I have more time to relax and enjoy the holiday.
-trying to figure out school decisions around Lee- this seems to never end...
-contemplating turning 40 next month. why is that birthday such a big one?
okay, more later!! I am currently cataloguing our digital photos and coming across lots of ideas I had for blog posts...
