one rainy day last week, we made some cornstarch clay- like play dough but good for letting your creations dry.
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups salt
- 1 1/3 cups cold
water
Put salt and 2/3 cup water in pan and bring to a boil. Mix cornstarch with 2/3 cup water and mix well. Blend 2 mixtures together and cook, stirring vigorously. This clay can be air dried (or 225 degree oven until hard) and then painted.
(our friend Joni making lumps. in case you though Maxine was suddenly a lot older and more coordinated)
the kids ended up with a lot of little coloured lumps and shapes which were soon forgotten, though they really enjoyed the process.
i made this little robin that sits on a nest, with someone special in mind.
certain people in my house don't think it's my best work(!) but i think she's sweet.
robins and eggs and birds' nests on my mind. every day i see fat robins hopping all around the garden, and i also must've been thinking of betz's nests- too cute
