Lee celebrated the big day by going with his dad, brother and two friends to one of those giant game complexes for the afternoon.
they came back for a dinner of sushi (well, California rolls), chips, and root beer.
and then 10 grandparents, godparents, and loving neighbours came over for 'cake'
the happy birthday boy!! "it was the best birthday ever!!!!"
(do you see the bite out of the '9' candle? Maxine got to it and thought it was candy- came to me saying 'i don't like this one Mama!')
he is such a big boy now i can't believe it. one of his aunties went on a shopping spree and bought him a whole new wardrobe practically- right down to the socks as you can see. he is wearing clothes that are not too small and are not patched and somehow that makes him look so much bigger! and hopefully we have found a replacement for a horrid sweatshirt that he has worn every day for the past 2 years...
and in case you were wondering- here's the 'cake'- TV dinner cupcakes from this book -Hello, Cupcake!: Irresistibly Playful Creations Anyone Can Make- my dad gave me last year.
Lee has spent hours poring over this book even when he wasn't looking for an idea for his birthday. it really is quite a fun book. i enjoyed making these but i have to say i missed the creative design aspect of making something up as i have in the past (like Asa's cake this year)
all in all, it was a successful day!
